Young Liam Purcell was the recipient of a music scholarship from the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation’s Play It Forward program, allowing him to attend the Smoky Mountain Banjo Academy during last weekend’s Five String Fest in North Carolina.

  • In addition to Liam Purcell, Carley Arrowood, Keaton McMillan, and Logan Redding also received scholarships from three persons who regularly attend and support the Smokey Mountain Banjo Academy. Jack Hatfield coordinates these opportunities The donators strongly believe in this comprehensive immersion of three days of banjo studies and jamming. Scholarships are annually available for youths at SMBA.
